MANILA – As early as now, fans are already excited about John Lloyd Cruz’s upcoming team-up with Angel Locsin, especially after seeing them together in ABS-CBN’s Christmas Station ID.
ABS-CBN.com had the chance to talk to Cruz about it and he himself couldn’t deny the powerful chemistry that he had with Locsin even in their short stint in front of the camera.
“It was a very awkward experience because at some point in the shot I was told to, ‘Put your arms around her, put your arms around her.’I said to her (Angel) ‘I’ll put my arms around you okay.’ [I asked for her permission] coz this is the first time we worked together. It was intimidating but in a good way,” said Cruz.
Despite Locsin’s recent break-up with Luis Manzano, the multi-talented actor stressed that his friendship with her former boyfriend wouldn’t be a problem at all.
“If there’s a bit of awkwardness, it isn’t because of Luis. I’m very excited and very much looking forward to the projects that I’ll be doing with Angel. I’ve been waiting for this and finally it’s happening very soon,” he said.
When told that Manzano had also expressed his support for their team-up, Cruz joked: “Well he needs to or else I’ll give him a….hug.”
Locsin had previously admitted that she’s nervous and intimidated about being paired with a critically-acclaimed actor like Cruz. But Cruz insisted that he wanted them to enjoy working with each other.
“I told her ‘don’t expect things’. What if I never met her expectations for me. Were partners, I will give it my best all the time, 100%. And for me, more than the work itself, is our journey together as a new tandem, that’s what matters most in the future. ” he said.
Cruz also congratulated Locsin for being nominated for Best Actress in the International Emmy Awards for her extraordinary portrayal in the teleserye “Lobo.”
